Obie Trice leaves Shady Records

Following the release of a song called "The Giant," rumors began to swirl that Detroit rapper Obie Trice had been dropped from his label of eight years, Shady Records. Lyrics like "Nope, no more second place to Eminem / question if I was second is the question to many men," further encouraged this logic. Shady Records issued a statement today, confirming Obie's drop from the label. Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager and long time friend, said "Shady Records has agreed to allow Obie Trice to pursue his craft in a different form free from the constraints of the current major label model." A fan of Eminem & Obie collaborations? No worries, as Paul Rosenberg also confirmed that Trice will continue to work with Mr. Slim Shady himself, and that he still is a close friend of both Eminem and the record label.
